News....

It has been a grueling few weeks since I did my phone interview for this job that I so badly want.

With snow days and the like, the interview process lasted a week longer than expected, which then in turn made the notification process last longer as well...

But after all of the waiting and more waiting and more waiting...

I was called into Shelly's office today and offered the position!!! :)  Assistant Director for Housing Operations!!!

We are just waiting on the final signatures before I can share anything publicly (like facebook or whatnot)... Once that happens, I'll surely put it on there! For now though, I have to keep it quiet... or a little quiet!!!

I believe everyone is going to know on Tuesday at the latest!

Job Update

A few of you have asked...

Where is the whole job thing standing.
Well, two weeks ago tomorrow, I had a phone interview.  I was called THAT NIGHT (just two hours after my interview) for an on campus interview the following Monday.
That night I received my itinerary which was as follows:

9:45am - Meet with Shelly (search committee chair)
10:00am- 11:00am - Interview with RLH office staff including RDs
11:00am - 12:00pm - Presentation to campus community with questions following
12:00pm- 1:00pm - Lunch with Director of Residence Life and Housing
1:00-2:00pm - Interview with Search Committee
2:00-3:00pm - Interview with Supervisor (who is the Director of RLH)

Presentation should be on:  "How can Student Affairs and specifically Residence Life and Housing use technology to engage student learning"
The following will be available to you:  Computer, Internet, Projector

I immediately began to freak out.  The presentation was my biggest concern.  Not knowing who would be there, what they would ask after the presentation or even really what the heck I should be saying about Student Affairs and technology.

I set up a meeting with a friend who works here in the campus center that is great with technology and he was SOOOOO helpful!  He gave me some great ideas and told me that really, instead of using power point (which is so last year) I should use a Prezi.
Then I came home on Thursday and began trying to figure out how to create a Prezi.  WOAH!  Prezi is so different than Power Point and does not work in a linear fashion at all.  My brain works linearly not all around, so it was completely out of my comfort zone.
On Friday we had a snow day, but our intern who is phenomenal, took about an hour and a half out of her time to come help me with the Prezi.  Thanks to her, I was able to figure out the whole Prezi thing and actually start planning out what I would talk about.
Saturday was pretty much spent making a 5 minute presentation into 30 minutes!!
Sunday I had a family Christmas Party (late, I know) so I didn't get to work on it then, but Monday was show time!!

Lets see if I can link it here.  Obviously, you wont hear the 30 minutes I did of talking, but you can see what I mean about how much more savvy Prezi looks!!

I'm more savvy than I thought, I figured out how to embed it here... So just keep hitting the right arrow and you'll see my talents!!!

Short story long...

I did the presentation and all of the interviewing... I thought it went fairly well.  They are bringing three more people to campus.  However, one person came yesterday, one person is scheduled for tomorrow and another on Thursday.  With this snow, I think it will all be pushed back another week - which means I wont know ANYTHING until the week after next...

Ahhhh.... All this uncertainty is so frustrating....

I keep telling myself that God has a plan for me.  I just need to keep walking in the direction I think he wants me in...
Which might include a total location change if I don't get this job.
The same job (almost) posted at Salem State University for a lot more money.  If I don't get this job, I have decided that I am going to apply for that one.  It wouldn't be ideal, as BSU is where I want to be, but it would be what I want to do... so I think that would be the next correct step for me.
We'll see...

Anyways, that's my update on the job... I'll let you know if I hear anything...
Thanks for your prayers, kind words, and encouragement!
